Problem:
A portal Web site for women needed a redesign to reconnect with its audience and to make updating the site's contents easier.

Solution and result:
An analysis and redesign of the site was completed using information architecture tools to analyze the site's structure and to aid in updating the site through the use and adoption of templates.

Problem:
Staff at a client's were using tools that were not helping them complete their tasks - tools that were unusable, inaccurate and unhelpful.


Solution and result:
I refined existing tools and created new easy to understand tools (including checklists and project tracking spreadsheets) on my own time, by my own initiative to address these problems.

Problem:
A manager with 10,000 files needed a tool to access a synopsis and quick access to author and subject information to determine their relevancy for potential testimony.

Solution and result:
I created a subject and author index and a taxonomy for future software implementation. The index was input into a Microsoft Access database, and the client was able to identify copies of relevant documents prior to the start of litigation.

Problem:
A UI was needed for an information management product I had created, but there was no budget or timeline to design a proper interface.


Solution and result:
The elements needed for the interface were chosen and subsequently designed and integrated into the database's UI, which now let users find the files they needed quickly and accurately.

Problem:
The client needed a teaching tool which could introduce its audience to the concepts, people, process and tools of KM.

Solution and result:
I created an inventory of terms, classified and categorized the inventory to create a taxonomy and then designed a visual version to function as a learning tool. The final products were presented to a Provincial Government Community of Practice.

Problem:
The client needed to comply with legislation and formalize and documents what information was being kept and for how long.


Solution and result:
I created the records schedules and taxonomies to organize the records. thus helping the client fulfil the mandatory legislative requirements for the government.

Problem:
A community clearinghouse for politically active citizens recently undertook a web site redesign, but problems with their navigational scheme still remained.


Solution and result:
Usability testing on the navigational scheme of the site was conducted, and a 17 page case study detailing the results of the testing was produced
