Now hopefully you're intrigued - what's this link between information and good user experience? Perhaps you're even asking yourself... 'what is user experience design?'
The simple answer? It's much more than just a phrase - it's a philosophy.

"User Experience [is] the overall experience, in general or specifics, a user, customer, or audience member has with a product, service, or event. In the Usability field, this experience is usually defined in terms of ease-of-use. However, the experience encompasses more than merely function and flow, but the understanding compiled through all of the senses".

User Experience Design or UX (also known as Experience Design) is the umbrella term for a discipline which contains a number of interlocking and interdisciplinary elements, primarily business analysis, information architecture, interaction design, information design, graphic and visual design, product and industrial design. UX is the best multifaceted approach to designing superior products which fulfil both user and client needs. UX is a comprehensive set of tools and methodologies, and I'm knowledgeable concerning most facets of UX, appropriate processes, methodologies and best practices.

My tag line - "between art and science is good user experience" reflects that bringing user experience to a product is not an exact science, nor is it strictly an artistic endeavor (graphic design, user needs analysis, personae). It's the sweet spot in the middle - that mixture of balancing the needs of the marketplace with those of the user, consumer or citizen. |

Whatever the discipline, it all comes back to user experience. Good user experience is created by carefully utilizing the work and techniques from these disciplines to create superior user experiences for your users. I'll be exploring this all in greater detail on my blog, but in the meantime, take a look at any of my work examples for details on any of my work experience.
